In May 2019, famed illustrator Ralph Steadman collaborated with Vans to promote awareness of species around the world who were facing extinction. The Ralph Steadman x Style 138 LX 'Whale' sneaker features a canvas upper splashed with a depiction of a fin whale, whose population had been drastically reduced due to the effects of climate change, toxins, habitat loss and whaling. As staples of Vans' design, the shoe includes an autoclave sole with rubber tread.
