This Classic Cortez pays tribute to a pair of blue shoes worn by early Nike product tester Kenny Moore. During one of his runs in Eugene, Oregon, Moore broke the third metatarsal in his foot, leading his coach, future Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman, to inspect Moore’s running shoes. The shoe’s lack of arch support prompted Bowerman to design the world's first running shoe with full-length midsole cushioning. A quickstrike August 2017 release, this Classic Cortez sports a Varsity Royal premium suede upper with a white Swoosh, a Sail sole and a sockliner printed with the X-ray of Moore’s fracture.
