With no frills, bells or whistles, the Blazer Mid Basic remakes Nike's first basketball shoe with true-to-form textile minimalism. Back in 1973, Nike had recently changed its name from Blue Ribbon Sports and adopted a new logo courtesy of design student Carolyn Davidson. With a mind to expand the running collection into hoops, the original hardwood sneaker got a durable leather construction, high profile and tacky rubber outsole. It was dubbed the 'Blazer' after Portland's NBA hoops team and launched in 1977.
