Since 2003, Nike has raised millions for OHSU’s Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation through the creativity of the hospital’s younger patients whose ideas come to life through sneaker design. This Air Max Zero 'Doernbecher' was dreamt and actualized by Chase, aka ‘The Captain,’ a 14- year-old patient. A tube-like drawing runs along the entire tongue which represents the shunt to treat his hydrocephalus, something he’s lived with his entire life. The self-proclaimed, take-charge guy also has an appreciation for lighthouses and that’s represented on the heel. The final sign off of the blue green Zero is the slogan “Unstoppable Chase,” showing the perseverance of the incredible ‘Captain.’
