Created in 2003 as a charitable program to raise money for the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Nike’s Doernbecher Freestyle Program pairs hospital patients with Nike designers to create special designs for some of Nike’s most iconic silhouettes for a limited yearly release. As part of-of 2016’s 13th collection, the Jordan 7 got the Doernbecher treatment with design help from 10-year-old Damien Phillips. Inspired by his love of the Chicago Bulls and playing guitar, the Bulls-inspired colorway features a mix of textured leather in red and black with a black midsole and translucent outsole. The shoe also features special design details like a guitar pick lace stay, guitar-inspired heel pull, and cartoon illustration of the designer Damien himself on the sole.
