Designed by Tate Kuerbis, the 31st installment in the Air Jordan line was first unveiled in Las Vegas in July 2016. The Jordan Brand has described the silhouette’s classic profile as heavily inspired by the Air Jordan 1. The upper is constructed with a Flyweave material, offering flexibility and comfort. The midsole utilizes FlightSpeed technology which optimizes energy and response by distributing the foot’s weight evenly on the ground. The Chicago colorway uses the Bull’s team colors, fading from red to white across the upper. An homage to the Windy City — MJ’s longtime home — can be found on the interior of the tongue with a silver skyline and four stars, a reference to Chicago’s flag. The Air Jordan 31 ‘Chicago’ colorway dropped in November 2016.
