The Nike Air Bakin walked onto the court on the feet of Tim Hardaway in 1997. Circulation halted when the Muslim community protested the shoe's logo that appeared to resemble ‘Allah’ in Arabic text. The sneaker made a comeback in May 2014 as the Nike Air Bakin 'Turbo Green,' featuring a revised logo but remained faithful to the original design through its two-tone leather and synthetic upper and contrast branding and accents. The extended sole on this kids' version is molded around the Max Air system and treaded with herringbone traction.
